Morning all! Isn’t it rough outside? I remember well, dating in the rain is wild hair and runny mascara so sorry to the couples heading out over the next couple of days! Here’s a few rainy day date ideas incase your date STILL wants to go out
If you’re lucky enough to live on the Isle of Man, you’ll be familiar with its April* showers! So, here are five alternatives to get you both started: 1, The Sound Café Why not volunteer as designated driver (or bus fare-er), pack your mac, and take in those panoramic views of that stunning Gaelic sea (…and each other) over a hot chocolate? You could even chance a stroll down to the shoreline for some seal spotting if you’re feeling weatherproof.
2, Car Picnic If you’ve grown up on Manx turf, you’ve probably been subjected to the disappointment of a ‘real’ picnic outdoors fast transforming into a ‘car picnic’. Often, before even making it out of the driveway, a rogue raincloud will materialise. However, sometimes, there’s an adventure in packing a couple of blankets, snacks, hot drinks, and parking up somewhere pretty. You could even take a laptop, watch a movie, and enjoy the sound of the rain whilst you’re both all cosy in your car.
3, Museum musings Shelter from the rain, and enjoy exploring the Manx museum (Douglas) or The House of Mannanan (Peel)! This is an ideal idea for those prone to getting a little tongue-tied or stuck for stuff to say during the first few dates. Visiting places with things to see is always best to help get the conversation flowing.
4, Tynwald Mills Another great one for grabbing a coffee and having somewhere sheltered to wander around! Tynwald Mills doesn’t just have to be where you go on Sundays once you’ve run out of ideas for where to take your nan. It’s especially great for first dates, since you can learn a little about each other over a warm drink, have a little stroll about, and then call it a day. Short and sweet for the first meet is always the best way to gauge chemistry.
5, Craftworks Studio Want to mix things up? How about some clay? Go to Craftworks and come away with either a second date, second plate, or both. Another good one for those who might struggle to get the conversation going – having something else to focus on whilst you both get to know each other takes the pressure right off the date (and each other). Remember to send us photos of your artwork!
